This web site is designed to provide information about the basics of Ultrasound Guided Regional Anesthesia (USGRA).

Where possible we have tried to use innovative ways of presenting information.

The information currently on the site is about anatomy relevant to USGRA

Each of the above tabs links to a series of interactive files.

Videos and animations are generally controlled with a slider that looks like an ultrasound probe.

Files in this section are animations providing information about the anatomy of the upper limb.

Anatomy of the shoulder

Scan through an animation illustrating the muscles surrounding the shoulder. Roll over muscles with the cursor to see information about their origins, insertions and nerve supply.

Anatomy of the interscalene region

Scan through an animation illustrating anatomy relevant to interscalene and supraclavicular nerve blocks.

Anatomy of the arm

Scan through an animation illustrating the muscles and nerves in the arm.

Line Animation of the brachial plexus

Scan through an animation that shows the typical structure of the brachial plexus.

Files in this section are animations providing information about the anatomy of the upper limb.

Anatomy of the anterior thigh

Scan through an animation that illustrates the anatomy of the anterior thigh. Including the anatomy of the obturator nerve

Anatomy of the femoral triangle

Scan through an animation that illustrates the anatomy of the femoral triangle. Including the fascia iliaca and the fascia lata.

Anatomy of the leg

This animation illustrates the muscles and nerves in the leg, culminating in a summary of anatomy relevant to an ankle block.

These files contain simultaneous controllable videos demonstrating ultrasound anatomy.

Ultrasound anatomy of the neck

Control simultaneously shot videos demonstrating ultrasound anatomy in the neck, relevant to interscalene nerve blocks and insertion of internal jugular central venous lines.

In the following videos, a slider can be used to highlight specific anatomical regions.

Ultrasound anatomy of the median nerve in the arm and forearm

Control simultaneously shot videos demonstrating the ultrasound anatomy of the median nerve in the upper limb.

Ultrasound anatomy of the radial nerve part 1

Control simultaneously shot videos demonstrating the ultrasound anatomy of the radial nerve in the arm, there is a second part to this display.

Ultrasound anatomy of the radial nerve part 2

This is the second part of an interactive review of the ultrasound anatomy of the radial nerve in the upper limb.

Ultrasound anatomy of the ulnar nerve in the arm

Control simultaneously shot videos demonstrating the ultrasound anatomy of the ulnar nerve in the arm.

Ultrasound anatomy of the ulnar nerve in the forearm

Control simultaneously shot videos demonstrating the ultrasound anatomy of the ulnar nerve in the forearm.

These files contain simultaneous controllable videos demonstrating ultrasound anatomy in the lower limb

Ultrasound anatomy of the sciatic nerve

This file contains simultaneously controlled videos illustrating the anatomy of the sciatic nerve in the thigh. Control the videos with the slider shaped like an ultrasound probe. Red triangles adjacent to the slider will take you directly to key frames illustrating anatomy.
